Update on Dyslexia Guidelines from AB 1369

For anyone following the development of CA's Dyslexia Guidelines called for by #AB1369 passed in October 2015 - The multi-stakeholder workgroup formed by the CA Department of Education (#CDE) to develop the guidelines has been meeting since last April.  At their November 18th meeting, surprising new developments were announced, including an arbitrary page limit on an electronic document and elimination of important sections on the characteristics of dyslexia, the neuroscience that explains it, classroom accommodations for students with dyslexia, and the social-emotional consequences of dyslexia.  These meetings are live-webcast, with the recordings usually posted within a few weeks, but it took 56 days to post the recording of the Nov. 18th meeting, http://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/se/ac/dyslexia.asp

The workgroup meets again on Tuesday, January 17th at 9:30 AM (PST) to finalize their draft of the guidelines that will be submitted for review and publication by the CDE.  View the Live Webcast by clicking on this link: http://cde.videossc.com
