Advocacy Day 2014


Join other parents, local education experts, elected officials, and community members for the 34th annual PTA Advocacy Day: Education in Transition hosted by the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs and Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs. Attendees will come away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the policy, curriculum and funding changes occurring in public education this year.

This year's program focuses on the major transitions occurring in education in California. Presenters will cover:

  • Transitions in Standards (from CST to Common Core)
  • Transitions in Standardized Testing (from paper/fill-in the bubble STAR test to the online SBAC)
  • Transitions in Funding Method (from revenue limits to Local Control Funding Formula, LCFF)
  • Opportunities for Parent Engagement through the newly mandated Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)
